Helvetica Film, and Other Suchnesses

The Helvetica Film, www.helveticafilm.com, was a nice time. i understood the “inside jokes,” and empathised with the grumblings of the rock star creatives. i think i got the biggest kick out of Erik Speikerman saying, “Even though i am German, i still don't like rules too much.” Imagine that, a man from the land of the Bauhaus thinking that rules can be oppresive when taken too far. Of course, Rod Parker once told me (paraphrased here): designing TOO tightly to the rules or the grid can lead to something being overdesigned. Anyway, spend the $20 USD and get the DVD.

i am enjoying my job at I.T. by Design (did that site too). i just finished a website for Sammy's Grill. i am happy with the design, although i wish i had more than 1.5 weeks to do it because then i would have done the whole thing in CSS. i cheated a little and used tables for some of the layout. Yes, CSS is better, folks, but admit it, the different browsers treat positioning and expanding differently and i made a decision to use the quicker option given the short production time. But gimme feedback if you like, i am always eager to learn from my peers.

My roommate just got a brand-spanking-new MacBook Pro 17" with the HD screen. Ooh, i am so jealous... and envious of his iPhone too. Oh, well, when the next generation iPhone comes out i am going to buy one too.

What about ya’ll?
